Skateboard / Longboard Wheel Types

Wheels are what links you to mother earth...

Basically there are only 4 wheels sizes:

  1. Street Wheels - 48 to 55 mm, These skateboarding wheels are small and allows the skater to do easy skating tricks.
  2. Vert Wheels - 55 to 65 mm, These wheels were made for jumping and are designed for ramps. They are quite hard and durable Skateboarding wheels that complements vert skating.
  3. Slalom Wheels - 60 to 75 mm, Relatively large to improve speed and grip in turns. Slalom is what they do best.
  4. Longboard Wheels - 65 to 100 mm, Made for cruising these wheels usually have a plastic core to make them lighter.

After you have picked the wheel size you are after you will also notice that there are funny number next to the wheel size. Numbers like 78A,99A and so on... Those indicates the hardness of the wheel. It ranges form about 75A to 100A. Where 100A is on the harder side. (Harder = more speed but absorbs less shock)

Wheels come in all kinds of colors and the sky is the limit. The latest wheels include mixtures of colors causing a marble effect or even shapes in the wheels.
